Willie ‘Big Mac’ McGinest released

In a surprising move before the beginning of free agency, the Pats have released McGinest in hopes of making some salary cap room. The extension(here, here and here) to the CBA was signed and free agency is in full swing with a larger salary cap of $104 million.

Does this mean that ‘Big Mac’ will get re-signed with the only team he’s ever played for? It is very likely that he might be seeing as he’s improved his play over the past couple of years to be an absolutely dominating force.

The Pats did something similar to this last year when they released Troy Brown only to resign him before the season began. The Rams did exactly this by releasing and resigning Isaac Bruce.

Here’s hoping to cheering ‘Big Mac’ on for a few more years in the Pats uniform!

Cheers
