Say N.O to T.O
Loudmouth Terrell Owens of the Philadelphia Eagles has finally apologized to Donovan McNabb, Andy Reid and the Eagles organization for his recent remarks, but that shouldn’t change his status for the remainder of this season.
T.O has been suspended for 4 games and will be deactivated for the rest of the season. He would be very high on the list of players to be traded when the trading period begins if not for the fact that few teams will want to deal with his attitude and disruptiveness in spite of his talent.
There is no doubting that T.O is a very capable and athletic receiver. The things that he’s been able to accomplish on the field is quite exemplary, despite some of his antics. But this off-the-field antics are a different matter all together. The Eagles were right to call him a “distraction to the team”. And, perhaps, he’s a distraction to the league. Players who get paid the kind of money that he is, shouldn’t be asking for new contracts in his second year after signing a 7 year deal. Perhaps, that is more Drew Rosenhaus’ fault than Owens.
But, the old adage “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely” comes to mind here and I would just replace Power with Greed in T.O’s case.
Cheers
