God orders Bush around
It would seem that President Bush has been performing his duties as the POTUS under the commands of a Higher authority. The authority, in this case, being God. Bush told high-ranking Palestinian officials that God ordered him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq and bring peace to the Middle East.
This article details how Bush spoke to Mahmoud Abbas, who would later become the Palestinian prime minister and another official about his conversations with God. Bush was on a “mission from God” as he began his war on terror.
“God would tell me, ‘George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.’ And I did, and then God would tell me, ‘George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …’ And I did. And now, again, I feel God’s words coming to me, ‘Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East.’ And by God I’m gonna do it,” Shaath quotes the president as saying in the three-part series.
It seems that Bush’s God has been very descriptive with his commands. Most religious folk usually look to God for general answers or directions in their life. None of them usually claim that God is giving them specific directions on leading their lives right down to the level of specificity that Bush seems to claim.
We all know that George W. Bush is a religious man. He makes no attempt to hide that during his speeches or otherwise. But this sort of a thing is an absolute outrage to an American like myself especially when his stated motives for his actions aren’t credible to begin with. Using God as an excuse to make such horrendous mistakes is blasphemous. What of all the stories of supposed WMD’s that Iraq’s Hussein was supposedly collecting?
Our only solace in this debacle of a presidency is that George Bush can serve no more terms. I also hope that no more of his gene pool get the opportunity of leading this country into any further dire straits.
Cheers
