My review of the Samsung SyncMaster 204T

A little while ago I wrote in this post about my computer’s new LCD. Having used this LCD for about two weeks now, I thought I’d post a little update.

First of all, this LCD is VERY bright. I actually had to turn down the brightness and contrast, otherwise, short bursts of usage actually wore my eyes down.

My primary reason for going for this particular LCD was twofold. One, I wanted to have a desktop resolution of 1600×1200, which I’ve been using for many years now. I consider anything smaller than this resolution very useless to me. Two, I can be quite the gamer when I get the time. :)

I find playing computers games to be very therapeutic and ensures that I don’t go completely off the deep end when dealing with life’s little trials and tribulations.

The Samsung has an impressive 16ms refresh rate which basically ensures that fast action, mainly games, will not yield the dreaded ghosting effect. 12ms is quickly becoming the new sweet-spot refresh rate, but it is not available with LCD’s that can also do anything better than 1280×1024 in resolution.

The first thing I noticed was that everything in the game was very vivid and colorful. I have not experienced ANY ghosting or any other artifacts. Additionally, my LCD came with absolutely no dead pixels which is just an added bonus and a joy for me.

If you’re considering an LCD upgrade, definitely consider this LCD which has all the necessary specs to be a true winner and the price to make it very competitive in the market.

Cheers
