Back from vacation
You might have noticed a sheer lack of posting or any other updates on the site for the past few weeks, some people might say that’s a good thing.
But, the reason was that I was on vacation in India and just didn’t want to deal with a dial-up Internet connection to make any posts.
Even if I wanted to make any posts I would have only been able to speak of the rain that fell, and boy did it fall. I knew full well that I was going to India in the Monsoon season but I expected that the weather would be cool and enjoyable, hardly that rain the likes of which have not been seen for over a 100 years would come down on Bombay and it’s vicinities.
Pune, some 150 kilometers away was also hit with rain that overran some bridges and made getting around an absolute chore.
We did, however, manage to get around and see the people we wanted to see and enjoyed the scantily few dry days that we got. Turns out that the big attraction of going shopping in India turned out to be not so attractive. With a growing economy and falling USD->INR conversion rate the prices of everything almost equal their counterparts in the US.
The thing, of course, that has gotten progressively worse since my last visit was the traffic. The number of vehicles being added to the already congested and tiny roads makes getting from place to place such a hassle that you just don’t want to bother.
Nonetheless, we managed to take some pictures that you will find at the Photo Gallery Remember to register for an account, if you haven’t already, as the pictures are private.
Cheers.
