Alex,

For the kind of change that you’re looking for, the most effective thing to use is Post Meta fields. A plugin would have to query each post’s Meta field and take appropriate action.

The only reasonable scenario where this would work is if you restrict this kind of plugin to a specific category and the number of posts are usually minimal. If you have too many posts to go through, each update/edit or whatever the trigger action for the plugin is would take forever.

This is an interesting idea nonetheless and I might look into implementing something.

I’m using Wordpress to automate a screen noticeboard and this is very close to being perfect for me but would it be possible to change it so the expiration date could be set individually for each post? From what I know of Wordpress I can imagine that would have to work in quite a different way to your current system. Useful plugin anyway! Thanks for giving it your time.

Hi Cypher…

I wanted to clarify the behaviour of this plugin. I’m hoping to autodelete posts older than 24 hours old. Is that possible?

I think that if I set it to 1 day, then it will delete anything dated the previous day — for instance at midnight, when the date advances, it would delete something posted at 23:00 the day before. Is that correct?

If it is correct, would it be possible to add the ability to delete based upon age expressed in hours?
