An article on CNN says

Lawmakers crafting energy legislation approved an amendment Wednesday to extend daylight-saving time by two months, having it start on the first Sunday in March and end on the last Sunday in November.

The reasoning being, “the more daylight we have, the less electricity we use”. Who is going to inform nature that she should extend daylight for a couple of months?

Or better yet, you can pretend it’s light outside while driving home fumbling in the dark and save “the equivalent of 10,000 barrels of oil a day”.
