What of the Tys?
Ty Law had another injury ridden season but the Patriots managed somehow. Tyrone Poole was also hurt doing the latter part of the 2004-2005 season and the Patriots managed to the win the Super Bowl with a mish-mash of players in their rookie years, from the offense and players elevated from the practice squads.
Now comes the time for movement in most teams, and I wonder what will happen to Ty Law. Listening to sports talk pundits would lead me to believe that Law will not be a patriot in the upcoming season while Poole might hang on.
My prediction about Tyrone Poole would be that he doesn’t have a very heft salary and would return to the lineup without too much fanfare. Ty Law on the other hand has a very hefty contract and a big cap number. I believe that Law will renegotiate with the Patriots for a reduced salary and return. He has to realize that his body is beginning to give way during the latter part of the season and any other team that signs up for a hefty contract will release him quickly.
His best hope is to stay with the Pats where he has shown his true prowess as a cover corner and whose fans know his potential even when hobbling around the field. Other teams and fans might not be willing to give him the leeway that Patriot nation would.
Cheers
