The new era of spam?

E-mail spam is familiar to anyone with an email address on a free service provider like Hotmail or Yahoo!. SMS text messaging on the other hand is something that most of us cell phone users pay money for.

We use it to send messages to friends and family when we are in a hurry and can’t take the time to actually call the person. The ramifications of being that lazy is a different thing.

None the less, text messaging is the next big weapon of choice for bulk spammers. But when you realize that you are paying for each and every text message you receive about losing weight, attracting the opposite sex or landing the dream mortgage rate of 4.25%, it doesn’t quite add up.

Verizon Wireless has gone to court over one such spammer and won a court injunction. When will this ever end?
