Phishing Scams!!
Today I got an email from CitiBank claiming that there were many identity thefts targeting Citibank customers and that I should confirm my information on their website. This is a phising scheme that I later came to find out.
The email pointed me to a URL that seemed reasonable enough, but when I clicked on the link, I was promptly greeted with a “Not Allowed” message from my company’s proxy server and good thing too! This got me thinking and I began to poke around the email.

As you can see this takes me to an entirely different site, and if I had actually gone there and entered my information, I would actually be giving away my information to someone actaully trying to steal my credit card information.
How ironic that an email warning me about identity theft is attempting to do just that!
Be very careful with email you get from your credit card or other companies. If you do get an email like this, the first thing to do is call up the 800 support number for that company and ask them!
